FULL BIO
It Starts Somewhere…
I’m from a small town in New Hampshire where I grew up in the woods building fairy houses, swinging as high as I could on our old wooden swing set to touch my feet to the electric wire, and playing pretend for hours in the backyard with my sister. My love of music and theater comes from my parents - my dad always put on a show for us reading bedtime stories, and my mother never missed a night to sing me to sleep. My sister and I have been heavily influenced by their music taste, which would blast in our cars whenever the ignition started. It developed into a love for the flute (I played for 10 years) and eventually choir in high school, where the theater bug bit HARD with a production of The Little Mermaid.
DANCE
While dance was something I pursued nonchalantly when young, it burst into an obsession in high school after that theater production. I learned my love of working in an ensemble, as well as the anatomy and kinesiology that goes into dancing. Expressing myself through dance and on the stage just felt right. I’ve always been a shy and somewhat reclusive person, but something about being on the stage gave me permission to be seen and be my full self. My poor family was so confused when I came home from a field trip to see the Boston premiere of the Moulin Rouge musical wanting to kick, stomp, and belt my way to a college degree. I ended up going for exercise science at first, but switched post pandemic to performing arts.
COLLEGE
All you gotta know about the pandemic was I was so happy to be home with my family. I grew closer to them and to myself. I was inspired to go back to school, and had more courage to try new things - which ended up with me joining a budding dance studio company under the direction of Briana Fallon, where I have been dancing since, and have begun teaching at. It was at Refine Dance Studio I truly ‘refined’ my dance craft (I had to). My semester at New York Film Academy’s Department of Musical Theatre set me on fire to continue my pursuit of this artistic path, an amalgamation of students from around the world and teachers from every corner of the industry.
THE PRESENT
This brings me to my now - I’m navigating life out of the structure of college, with its many ups and downs. I work as a medical receptionist for my day job (I quite enjoy it talking to people on the phone and the organization of it all). I dance and teach with Refine Dance Studio, and attend auditions all across the North Shore and Tristate area. I’ve begun to travel. I live on the coast of Massachusetts, where I am learning to live in the now and understand that the good things take time, and that my whole life is ahead of me.
I’m excited to be starting it.
